Found the real life house!

Juliana

I think I finally found the real life house my dollhouse was patterned after! Orange Grove Plantation house, built 1850 and burnt down 1984. Located just south of New Orleans on 4 miles of river frontage, it was a sugar plantation. One of the few Gothic Revival style plantation houses known to have been built. A book I just found describes it as having a below-ground brick floored basement, central heating and hot running water. The floorplan had a central hall with a curved staircase flanked by large rooms that had 20 foot ceilings. So my dollhouse is 1:24 scale, as I suspected! And, also, the house has been telling me all along that it needs French doors around the ground floor...look, it was right! That is just downright SPOOKY.
