My first parquet floor ever....

Soapz

So, there are some gaps, a small calculation error and yes, it could be more perfect... but: after working on this the whole day (instead on working on my thesis) I'm so keeping it and gluing into that house!

If anyone has any ideas about a sealer that can be sanded without destroying that micro-veneer - let me know!

Wow,dontcha just love micro-veneer!? I haven't tried anything this fancy with my stash of it,but you have really inspired me! I didn't sand my micro-veneer floors, but Kathie's advice is great,as the brown paper would be really gentle. I put a coat of matte Mod Podge on my floors, just to give them a little more shine and to protect them.Too much info from me,I know, but just really want to say bravo on this great floor!!:)

Thank you all - I'll see what sanding will do today. I want them finished.

I cut most of the veneer with a paper-trimmer ($7 at Walmart): long strips and then the strips into squares with scissors - I would not want to do that without a trimmer.... it was endless.

Would never have guessed you used a paper-trimmer from Walmart to cut the strips and then scissors to make them into squares. Thanks for sharing the how-to. The floor is so beautiful.
