DollhouseFirescreen

Creamcheese

This fireplace screen was actually in the Victorian Trading Company catalog which has wonderful Victorian RL products. I always wanted a RL fireplace screen similar to this. When I saw this in their catalog I snipped it out and made a replica in miniature out of 2 layers of card stock. Instead of hinging the 2 sides I just folded the card stock and then glued and decoupaged the floral prints on and used a satin sealer that I brushed on. I added some basswood to make it appear more substantial and then used metallic copper paint on the backside and all around the front portion that is supposed to be metal. I just love this fireplace screen and you should see how beautiful it looks! Now I may even make a second one for the 1st floor living room fireplace. Right now I have a brass fire screen but it pales in comparison to this floral one. This was so much fun to create!!!!!!

Love this. Reminds me of the floral trays they had in the Victorian period. I restored one once upon a time. It had those big cabbage rose type flowers like your screen.

I'm not sure how I missed this, but what a fantastic idea! And the finished product is even better. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you!   This turned out to be a very pretty and easy fire screen to make.   Now I want to make a 2nd one and replace the brass one so that's on my future to-do list!
