its been a nightmare

Debora59

now we are paying someone else to fix the big mistakes, for example 1st contractor left a 3 inch gap between roof and soffit , he just shingled over the gap! And thus the room leaks. the guy we hired to put up gutters found the gap. Another serious issue: I asked for pier construction instead of a foundation, the 1st contractor gave us 5 hand poured 6X6 cement posts, they go 42 inches into the ground, but they also reach up 36 inches above ground to meet the house, which is a 12 x 18 ft room. I questioned this he said they will handle 4500 pounds per sq inch, other contractors are saying it will eventually fall. until we know for sure, we have planned to add more piers ''actual piers '' next summer.

So sorry to hear this; you've been so excited about this project. But it will be secure and watertight when you're done.

I am sorry to hear this as well, but it is better to find out about these things now while you are still in the renovation/expansion mode. It would have been worse if two years from now you realized you had a leak.

Have you voiced your dissatisfaction with the first contractors? You may be entitled to some reimbursement, or at least you should be.

I am so sorry to hear that. It's a shame that you just can't trust people like you used to be able to do. Everyone is just trying to get over.

But sounds like you have the right people now. Hopefully everything will get straigthened out.
