This is my San Franciscan that I began in 1996. It is 1/8" plywood, before the redesign, and it had a gagillion pieces. I had to design what I wanted in each room before I put the house together so I'd know if I needed to paint or stain, etc. The colors were inspired by a house in The Painted Ladies Revisited book, page 131.

From the album:

San Franciscan--the 20 year project

Thank you!

No, they came as white silkscreened lines on thin plastic but I wanted stained glass so I painted them with glass paints. Time consuming but I love it!

Thanks so much!

Glass paints are transparent (most colors are, anyway) and they are easy to use. I got them at Pearl Paint, also you can get them at Michael's and A.C. Moore.

I have a Willowcrest that I am making into a Painted Lady. Weeks after I decided the style, I found How To Make Your Own Painted Lady at Value Village, and promptly ordered Painted Ladies Revisited! For anyone interested, there are now a series of videos online by the Victorian Historical society in San Francisco about the houses.
