Jo, I love the finish on the fireplace, did you purchase it like this or do that yourself? Its very well done.

I have a simlar fireplace coming from smallworldminiatures, and had also decided the 1:6 mirrors would work well for large grand spaces. If thats what you have here, it certainly proves this.

Debora the answer is half and half. Its a plain plaster fireplace which I bought at a show. It had been painted brown but not a solid brown, a sort of translucent brown so that it had light and shade. I highlighted it with old gold rub 'n buff but very lightly so that just the edges caught it. This enhanced the light and shade properties. Very pleased you like it.

The mirror is 1:12th from Sue Cook Miniatures - its the largest one she does. Again, I have dirtied it down a bit with a bronze paint as it came in a flat gold finish.
