Quarter scale model

WyckedWood

This is a quarter scale model of the house. The couple that taught the class (see album description) made it to make sure all of the roof lines would work, etc.

Im glad I was given a picture of this or I would have had a hard time figuring out what all of the different pieces are for.

What a great idea, having an actual model to work from. Your big one is going to be amazing if its anything like this. The only thing I am surprised about is that it sat in the garage for 2 years, I think I'd have been itching to start on it.

I really was, but my dollhouse budget has been going to the SeaHag this past year. Now that project has wound down. I was planning to do some really special floors in this Tudor that I knew would be expensive and I just calculated that the floor in the main room would cost me $128 for 88 two inch square parquet flooring pieces. Ouch. Think Ill save the parquet floors for one of the smaller rooms.

What about using veneer to create your own? My DH bought me a sample veneer pack that has 36 or 40 sheets of approximately 8x10ish different veneers. Many are standard woods, but some are burls, etc. Eventually I'll cut some into narrow strips and create my own parquets, gluing to a backing paper. Or you could use veneer tape. It's about 1 inch wide. Just thoughts. This house is gorgeous!
