Dalesq 4,663 Posted November 27, 2012 Hi Ken, I make my own wallpaper usually finding images on the Internet or downloading the free printies. I always prime the walls with paint or shellac first. I use a color inkjet printer. My mistake was I got in a hurry. I printed the wallpapers, but didn't give them enough time to dry. VERY IMPORTANT! Then I sprayed them with the clear matte finish to help set the color. Again, didn't give it enough dry time. I just use thinned white glue to attach paper to the walls, and when I applied the paper, everything looked okay, but then the colors started to "bloom" through the paper. I was a real mess. By the time I realized my epic fail the paper was mostly dry. I started peeling it off, but lots stuck so the dreaded sanding was necessary. Then I couldn't get the walls perfectly smooth or get the color off that had soaked into the wood! Printing onto card stock wasn't quite thick enough (I even bought a special paper and went through an ink cartridge). After much pondering and a hint I got reading something else on this site, I decided to try watercolor paper. It's think enough to hide the slight imperfections of the not quite smooth walls, takes the ink color beautifully and dries quickly! But I gave it extra dry time (like overnight) and worked slowly. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ken 513 Posted December 18, 2012 Nice save - I do about the same print my own , Then spray with MogPog spray sealer (Outside too smelly for indoor use) I use both MOGPOG paste on the walls if it is a small area and Wallpaper paste for the larger areas So far so good.. Looks like this build is coming along nicely for you Keep-er up Quote Link to comment

Dalesq 4,663 Posted December 19, 2012 Thanks! It was a lot of work, but I'm pretty happy with it now, and I learned a lot in the process. Quote Link to comment
