The stonework was done using our version of paperclay which is a sort of papier maché powder you mix with water. Its not a easy to use as the pre-made paperclay because you smear the paste on the walls and then have to smooth it out to get a decent surface to carve the stones on. I use metal wax carving tools for carving the stones. They are all done individually and it does take a long time but I think the end result passes muster. I painted it with acrylic paints in various colours, ochre, sienna, grey, black, brown and bit of sap green. I sealed it by painting on the sealer that artists use for sealing their paintings.
