Parlor - ceiling, medallion and crown molding painted white
I primed the ceiling side with white paint and the upper floor with black. I figured I'd have some warping to deal with since there in an exposed overhang, but the board remained relatively flat without any need for weighting it as the paint dried. I hope I can keep the warping to a minimum and that the eventual trims will help keep things aligned properly.
For the crown molding, I went with a fancy real life sized carved trim that ties in well with the large medallion. I've painted the trim white to match the ceiling. The painting is Elizabeth Wharton Drexel by Giovanni Boldini, 1905. I need to age the frame and print the final copy of this portrait. Right now, it's just computer paper.
Painting the ceiling, medallion and crown molding all white really helped unify the look. I think it's going to work really well for this room.
