I used my dremel once again with a cutting disk made for cutting metal and cut the screw tips off flush with the wood. If you are not familiar with metal work, just file them with a metal file. Wear leather gloves and eye protection as indicated in the users manual of any power tools you use.

I hope you were wearing safety goggles. Dremel cutting blades can shatter, especially when cutting metal. And the bits of metal from the screw can also be a hazard to eyes.
