Gimbles

dooder85

Gimbles is a rescue bird of sorts, he was attacked shortly after hatching and has a broken foot and is missing a few toes as a result... but he doesn't seem to realize that. He will be moving in next week, and is approximately 5 months old

ohhh you have a q baby. My Lilo is 8 years old. hatched here. As we speak she is saying 'yummy' because I haven't given them their romaine lettuce and broccoli. If you don't know about birdie veggies please let me know. It's so important for them to have variety.......

Lilo has a tumor on her vent. I've been to 5 vets. The one remaining we could go to would want surgery asap but 50% chance of coming out of that isn't very good. If she won't get in bath container I stick her bum under the faucet to clean her and put a med on it. This is only now and then.

I have a lovebird can't perch but she can climb all over her cage. I got her in 2001 when she was about 2. Lost her mate 3 years ago.

How exciting...

I love the quakers, they have so much personality, I really can't wait for G to move in to the household, I'm sure it'll be a great deal of fun

Hi Aaron! I have two African greys who are my "kids." I'll have to post some pics too! My little girl has a similar issue as Gimbles - she was attacked in the nest and her right foot was damaged. The breeder thought it was just her toe that got chewed on and the nail would grow back, but we've since learned she has nerve damage in that foot and sometimes can't grip too well with it, but most of the time she doesn't know she's not as strong as her brother. We named her "Seraph" because she is an ANGEL, the sweetest bird you could ever meet, and she is SUCH a ham and loves everyone, and makes certain everyone loves her!

One thing she seems to really enjoy is her Thermoperch. It's a heated perch and I think sometimes when her foot is achy it really helps, in the same way we like a heating pad when our back is out. Good luck with Gimbles!!!

I haven't heard of these thermo perches, I will have to take a look for them. Gimbles is missing a couple of toe ends so I'm sure I will run into similar problems with aches and pains. Gimbles really can't grip well at all with that foot and does most of her climbing with her beak.
