Raffaella Modolo Picture 1

Mini Man

Hi everybody!

Here it's my project for the SPRING-FLING -11.

My name is Raffaella and I work as trainguard. So for this project I got inspiration from my job and I decided to create a railway station - dollhouse.

The name I chose for it is CAESUS STATION. You can read the whole name on the front wall of the ticket office. That is CAESUS SALTUS URBS.

This strange name is my town's name but in the original latin form. (The present one is CESSALTO).

My idea was to find a marriage of two cultures: the one I belong (the latin one and so I kept the latin name) and the American one.

This is the reason why I chose as setting the Wild West!I like it very very much.

The color of the dollhouses is mainly brown, I added a cowboy (the protagonist of a famous Italian comic-strip story : Tex Willer) beside of it, and I couldn't do without putting a small dead-end track.

If you look at the back of the dollhouse you can find 4 rooms: on the first floor there are a typical pub with a lot of beer tankards and other tiny objects, and at the right side of it, the ticket office where passengers can get information and tickets .( I took the liberty of putting some modern things such as the waiting-line with small "pillars"); on the second floor there are a private bedroom (for the pub or the station personnel) ,and the pub storage accessible by the trapdoor which is in the ceiling of the ticket office.

I apologize if I've made some mistakes in English, and I hope you'll enjoy my work!

a Greenleaf- Lover

Thank you Ren!I made it by recycling pieces of different wood which my trust-joiner gave me :groucho: it has been an hard work because the wood pieces broke very easily , and it was difficult to get the same size!

This is beautiful - love the different finishes as well as the idea...suits the kit perfectly but is not something I would have ever thought of - very creative!
