Just One More 101 Posted May 23, 2011 I see you moved your second floor partition over to make a bathroom. How will you finish the stair opening? I would have never thought to do that. As it is I moved the stairs toward the back of the house so they wouldn't come so close to the front wall. I wonder what RGT addition might look good with this house. I saw one in the gallery with a garage and a room that size might look good too. These houses on clearance at HL were the greatest bargain. Quote Link to comment
jbnmini 2,062 Posted May 23, 2011 Yes- I like the look of the moved wall as well. Heck, if I get another one I think I would just forget about the stairs entirely! Quote Link to comment
Reliving My Childhood 17 Posted May 25, 2011 Just One More - you're not gonna like this... I don't do stairs unless I realllllly want to include them as a part of the architecture. And if I'm going to use them, then they're not going to just appear in the middle of a bedroom or bathroom (like the Rosedale) unless I feel like it works with the whole concept (if this were an adult-only home, for example). And the bathroom has to be on the same level as the master bedroom. I could have created a hallway instead but then that would've meant the bedroom was - in my opinion - too small for a bed to be placed against the left wall. And I sure wasn't going to put the bed on the right side and waste that beautiful bay on a bathroom. Funny what some people consider to be necessary and others are willing to just ignore. Some people worry about their mini people falling off the stairs (but apparently not about them falling out of the dollhouse completely). I can appreciate their passion but it just doesn't matter to me. I thought about building a 2-story foamcore addition to this one, putting the kitchen and guest bed in it, but decided against it simply because of space in my house to display it. If I were doing a 1-story addition, I'd probably want a conservatory but would put a patio up on top to help build up the height to better match the house (you don't see too many 3-story houses with a 1-story add-on).
