Entry Display

I had a moments of regret when I painted the Windsor bench and tiered display (they were walnut) but since they were relatively inexpensive pieces (each under $15), I realized I could just order others if I felt the real need to use them in other houses. I left the island/counter its original dark cherry but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't paint it, too. I really don't want to paint the chair because I like that it matches those in the dining room.

I would like to make a reservation for one in the dining room please, and I would like to try the sampler plate, you know, the one that has a slice of everything!!!!

This is so cute!

Thank you so much!

Even though I'm not a big sweet fan, I do often love rich, non-chocolate dessert: shortbread, salt caramel ice cream, cheesecake (gingerbread crust vs graham cracker, and no jelly-like fruit topping, please), pecan pie, & carrot cake (with very little powdered sugar in the cream cheese icing).

Ugh, I'm drooling on myself :yum:

I say keep the counter as it is -it breaks up all of the other white in the room and plays off the red of the door. :thumb:

As a semi-retired cake artist- I absolutely LOVE this house!! :p

Jackie, thank you. I never thought about the color playing off the door. It wasn't a cheap piece so I really didn't want to paint it.

My sisters and I all worked at Baskin Robbins for a while and had to quickly learn how to decorate cakes. Now, we're not talking Ace of Cakes quality, obviously, but the same basic principals were there and we practiced more at home with books and videos and classes. We've worked on weddings and baby showers and such and while I would not use the term "artist", I'm proud to say we were several steps up from the local grocery store.

Know what I hated then and still hate to do now? Basket weave. I ALWAYS end up with flippy little ends here and there and have to tamp them down with a toothpick.
