Attic Progress

pdlnpeabody

The chimney obscures the far left gable, but its too late to redesign now. If I had it to do all over again I would have put the chimney against the outside wall and made an open kitchen leading into the dining area.

I had to go back two pages to see that this chimney is all together from the kitchen right up to the attic..so no it can't be moved. But if this is the only change you came up

with..you're a lucky man!! I can see LOTS of changes I will have to make in my first two houses. You are quite a visionary, designer and builder. This build is wonderous!!

I see what you mean about the chimney - but this could be a unique aspect of the house you can take advantage of. Something half hidden behind the chimney? I don't know - but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I think I am the kind of person who would love a chimney coming up through the middle of the room, lol. I'd probably put shelving on one side in real life and make a reading nook in the window.

I'm totally in agreement with Janice... my first thought was "what a cozy little place for a reading nook". Or, since astronomy made great advances during the Tudor era, it would be a great place for a telescope with just enough room for a small table for writing observations.

Thanks!

I was looking at the room and noticed that the windows are kind of low to the ground, so they would probably be perfect for putting built-in benches there.
