DHGranny 78 Posted November 25, 2010 I have to do the doors, other than that she is fiished !!!! I like this house moreso than any I have done, maybe because this one has a story,a reason to live !!!The third floor and roof are still removable and I did figure a way to keep the third floor from sliding. MerriMagic 13 Posted November 25, 2010 Girl, you dun GOOD! I love the floor plan. You should have been an architect! Hey, there's an idea for you...you could look across dollhouse sites, and put together your very own design! I bet it would be awesome!I think this looks so real because it looks like a real house, that has had additions as years go by. It's got it's own distinct personality. Super, super, SUPER!But first furnish this one..I want to see it completed! EXCELLENT WORK..and ya had fun doing it too! Quote Link to comment
DHGranny 78 Posted November 25, 2010 Jeanne, ,if I were an architect it'd be my luck I was stuck designing strip malls !!!! Man,even as a little girl I drew floor plans, give me a shoe box and in a few mins I had walls in it Yeah,I had alot of fun with this one. It's about time for Daniel to take Claire to see it and pop the question.... Jo Med 1,017 Posted November 25, 2010 Well done April you have achieved what all of us probably want to achieve but rarely do - build a dollhouse and double its space. Still can't believe how quickly you did this I's still struggling cutting my first door - takes courage to bash a perfectly fitting component. I vow to actually do it today though, must crack on with this house. Quote Link to comment
DHGranny 78 Posted November 25, 2010 Jo,thank you Every part is not perfectly fitted,it's a long process of adding more here or shaving off a bit and still pretty much make it look like a precision fit. That can be challenging. When I cut the extra door in the Rutherford I used a coping saw blade, just the blade mind you.Hubby wrapped one end with thick fabric tape so I wouldn't rip my fingers apart. After that I just sanded until it was pretty straight.Worked out pretty well. Alexander 524 Posted November 25, 2010 So very beautiful and realistic!!! It has for sure ti's own wonderful personality. This is the most interesting part of making a dollhouse: you reveal pieces of your character and your taste that's why each one is a unique work of art. Quote Link to comment
DHGranny 78 Posted November 26, 2010 Alexander, thanks We each take pieces of wood and turn it into a living part of ourselves...sort of Quote Link to comment

DHGranny 78 Posted November 26, 2010 Llyn, thank you !!! The story progresses as I type,if I can find the "idea" thread from weeks ago,I'll continue the saga there.I'll start the furniture very soon,I'm sorta into a related project right now, plus overeating and cleanup yesterday, hubby is bringing home all new appliances today.......and I have had 3 1/2 hours of sleep.Ideas are constantly forming, now I just have to make them materialize. Quote Link to comment
