Scratch built table lamps

otterine

I made these lamps from beads, LEDs, paper and various jewelry findings. I love the way they turned out, and the LEDs provide great light not usually seen in miniature lamps. I didn't save any money making my own lamps since I used pricier LEDs and had to buy more materials than necessary just for two lamps, but I have unique fixtures in a more contemporary style than what's available on the market.

Yet again, you're work just floors me. It looks fantastic one would be hard-pressed to believe this is miniature. Amazing.

This settles it; I'm moving in TODAY!!! :p

Can I expect a tutorial on the otterine blog???????? I need to know how to make lights. I'm so disappointed with the ones on the market and the prices...Lord. You can spend a small fortune on them alone. Speaking of which...Etsy Brae??? LOL. There's a SERIOUS market out there for lights. You know this, right?????

Thanks to everyone for your comments! :D

Bre, these particular lamps happen to be fairly fragile - I've had to retouch the glue a few times. I'd have to figure out a way to stabilize them if I were to ship them and have them be up for even moderate handling.

I love the lamps,Id like to try making my own too,I was just thinking about that yesterday, what kind of paper do you use? I dont want to burn the house down... LOve the way you make your beds too! Very nice and clean looking! Its a great scene!

Karin - I used regular artist drawing paper for the shade. Nowhere is the paper touching the LED, and the minimal heat from the LED can escape through the top like a regular lamp. I don't plan to leave it on unattended besides.

For those interested, there is the full process/tutorial on my blog. :D

Oh Brae, THANK YOU so much for the tutorial on your blog! I won this big lot of lamps and chandeliers on Ebay and some of the lamp shades are horrific! This will help me to replace them! YOU ARE AWESOME. Please keep up the good work and keep sharing! ;)

Those lamps are exactly my style. Did you have to cut the led wire to get the bulb in the lamp? And if you did how hard was it to get the wires reconnected?

I have a situation where all i need to do to have light is twist those wires back together. I will never do that again.

What a wonderful bedroom. You are right, don't see many contempory. The lamps are perfect and the bedding is a 10+. Like the way the lamps illuminate the walls.
