wedding doll

My friend Sandra poured and painted the doll parts, and I put her together/clothed/wigged her. I had told her I wanted to recreate my wedding dress, which was originally worn by my Mom. My Dad died when I was two, so he never got the chance to walk me down the aisle in it. I always felt there was a hole in my heart that day. Anyway, Jim and I celebrate our 30th next week, so this was my project. I'd like to put her in a shadowbox with wedding portraits of our parents and grandparents someday.

My Mom and I both have the same color reddish hair, and wore it loose around our shoulders for our ceremonies.

Clearly there is a lot of emotion in this doll. I think your idea of a shadow box with the doll and pictures of your parents is a wonderful idea. You did a great job on this doll (I really love the hair). It's absolutely beautiful.

Thank you! Your encouragement has helped push me further to start the display (boy, do I NEED a big nudge to get anything started lately...SC heat has fried my brain!).

I found a nice unfinished box today at AC Moore and have some ideas how to put all together.

and let me tell you how BEAUTIFUL Sandra's dolls are! She is so sweet and generous and gave me the porcelain body kit to start this project.

Namaste, Sandra!
