water shot

jandjhartley

I made the water scenery by first using styro insulation and cutting it to a rough fit. Then I went over the edges with plaster cloth to round them out a bit. Made the rocks around the building with a combination of paperclay and papiermache clay. Painted the whole thing in various shades of gray, brown, green and blue-gray before adding small choppy waves around the edges with scenic water (the really thick stuff that you can practically mold!) then poured in the thiner scenic water. I also planted a little greenery and "seaweed" before pouring. The scenery was one of my favorite parts to do, but also one of the most challanging to try to figure out how to incorporate the cutaway for the boathouse naturally.
