Staircase experiment

Sherry

I didn't want the spindles on my staircase, they don't look Victorian to me at all, and I wanted something different. So I found this piece of laser cut trim at Michael's for $1 minus a 20% discount on Sale day. It's not attached, and the newel post is not even glued on yet, but I had to see how it is going to look. It's different, ok! Still needs a runner, and then I have to make another one for the first floor.

At our store, there's a box across the aisle from the hutches, back where the wood cutouts are. It's just a divided cardboard box like dowels come in, full of different types of trim.

I always look at that box of trim - the Joann's by me has it, too - but I never thought to do something like this. It looks perfect...just like it was made to go there.

Brae, believe me, it took some careful measuring and fitting to get it to work out with exactly 3 ovals on there! Thanks for your comments, everyone!
