Kitchen sink

otterine

The kitchen sink that came with the Euro Mini's sink cabinet was very shallow and not exactly what I wanted. The hole in the top of the cabinet for the sink was deep, so there was plenty of room to add a deeper sink. My attempts at making a sink out of polymer clay were lumpy and rather sad. sad.gif So, I built one out of basswood and balsa. I used gloss sealer over white paint to create the look of porcelain. Once the sealer cures completely, I will add a sewing eyelet for a drain. I'll also need to add a faucet.

It DOES look amazingly real! I know what you mean about making the sink out of polymer clay, except that I ended up using the lumpy one. (see it in my gallery!) Now I want to make one like yours! What was the "gloss sealer" you used? Would you mind providing a little more detail on how you did it? I'm very impressed!

This is very impressive. Thanks for your blog. I've always wanted to make the wooden appliances and sinks, etc. look like porcelain. This is a very nice job!
