This dollhouse was for my than 5 year daughter. She was interested in Barbie for only 1 years. I worked for 6 months in the basement making the house in secret. After she got it, she lost interest in Barbie, and used the dollhouse as a garage for her matchbox cars. 24 years later, she is still interested in cars. The house layed idle for many years, and I when I moved to my tiny apartment, it was given to a little girl in the neighborhood.

But I had my fun cutting and planing and painting.

The house started its life as a toy box, and was almost 1 inch thick. So, I couldn't make windows. Instead they are faux windows. With sceenes from gardening magazines behind the windows. All curtains were made to be removed for washing. The upsairs was thinner wood, so I was above to saw and have real windows. I made all curtains and bedding, and the blue living room funiture was made from wood clothespins. I made it all. What fun it was.
