Mistress Garfield tries on her new hat

Jo Med

At last I have got to the roof. There is still lots to do inside but only a couple of things that have to be done before the roof can be installed permanently.

Putting that tower roof together was the most frustrating part of this build for me - I needed 8 arms and hands and a lot of luck to get it to go together without huge gaps, There are still some gaps to fill but its not so bad.

Thanks for the nice comments girls. Yes this is the way she comes Karin, except that I put a roof over the french door which isn't standard. I have dispensed with the kitchen bay window round the back of the house and blocked that up so that I can fit modern kitchen units in. The roof over the french door is actually the roof that would have gone on the kitchen bay. I have made another door at the end of the kitchen which will lead into a conservatory.

It has been a challenge for a newbie, but not impossible. I have enjoyed every minute spent with this lady. The only really bad part was the outside lights - I have had some frustrations with those as they aren't very well made and the wiring breaks easily so I have had to solder 2 of them and swap 2 of them for new ones - ah the pain goes on.

Looking forward to fixing the roof tomorrow and then I can tackle the attic floor wiring and wallpapering.

Thanks so much Connie. The design of the Garfield is outstanding, I absolutely love it and I haven't seen anything else that I like more than this one.

Looks fabulous! The roof over the French doors really suits. Do you have paint colors planned? Or are you going to stain it?

Not sure now Wendy. I had planned to paint the siding cream but the more I look at it in its natural state the more I like it. I will probably change my mind half a dozen times before I get to the point of painting it though. I'm considering maybe a darker colour than cream - sand colour - same colour as the background on the aloha style sheet in this forum. Decisions decisions.
