This year the gumbo was special. We got some soft shelled crabs at a Cajun restaurant in Sedalia. The gumbo also boasts 4 pounds of shrimp, chicken, beef, ham, a couple kinds of sausage, celery, green onion, garlic, and okra. Of course the whole secret of its delicious flavor is the roux. In the South, a girl's ability to make a good roux can mean the difference between getting married or getting dumped. :lol:

Good thing I don't live in the South because I don't even know what "roux" is? But it all looks very tasty! Thanks for sharing your party!
