that window...

critter

What in the world am I going to do with this wall?? I can probably think of a million good fixes but I need a little push! I'm open to ANY suggestions! I really don't want the window to be showing since it is not functioning. I wish I could remove the trim but it is ridiculously hard to get off since I already glued it! (Remember I almost lost a finger removing the first floor trim!?) A lesson learned, i guess. If I could do it over again, I would have left the trim off and filled in the hole with some illustration board like i did on the floor below (filling in the staircase opening). By the way, I have decided that the stairs must be left out. with the addition of the fireplace there won't be much room. Sad :(

You could also cut a piece of the illustration board to fill in the center of the window where the pane is, then another piece to go over the entire wall. The level of the board attached to the wall would be the same as the trim. Then just wallpaper over the whole thing. Or, you could turn the window trim into a picture frame and have it permanently attached to the wall. Just find a nice painting or picture from a card or something and fit it in to where the window pane is. You could even put a thin piece of trim over the window trim for the frame, if you wanted it to be nicer. No one would know there was ever a window there!

Depending on where you want the bed to go, if this is a bedroom, you could also create a type of cornice piece to go under the ceiling and hang fabric from it. It would be like a headboard for the bed that covered the entire window. Or you could put a vanity in front of it, the fabric I mean. I guess this one depends on the style of the room.

Or you could put a floor to ceiling bookcase in front of it.

I sent you a PM, but have you thought about a built-in/recessed bookcase or display shelf? You'd only have to remove the middle and put in shelves; the outside trim would frame it.

Good luck! It looks lovely already! Love the chimney and fireplace!

Wall to wall built ins? Real life houses have all sorts of things hidden behind them. you can also put a door there and one at the bottom for an illusion of stairs. :)
