We've always had one or more of these Old World mushrooms on our family Christmas tree. My vision is for the Fairy Godmother and the Elves to live inside one of them.

Years ago I had a dress I loved, made of a silky red fabric with white dots. If I still had the dress, I'd cut it up in a heartbeat to make the roof. But I'm sure I'll find some way to tell the story without it. :)

I grew up with an ornament almost exactly like that on my Christmas tree. My parents got it right after they were married in the late 60s, but ours has a little elf sitting below the cap inside the stem. We still have it.
