Marie Laveau's daughter, the widow Marie Glapion Legere, is watching for Sophia's arrival. When her mother dies in 1881, she will continue her work, giving rise to the myth that Marie Laveau arose from the dead. The pocket/sliding door can be seen behind her. The fireplace screen is uniquely New Orleans. There's a detailed photo of it in my blog.
