Close-up of special gift (right and top)

Have you ever tried to find good baby blocks in miniature on short notice? Maybe I could find good ones on the internet, but on short notice I had two craft superstores and my local minis shop to choose from. I knew the alpha "blocks" at the craft stores would really be beads, and I didn't want holes in the blocks, so I headed to the minis shop. Sadly, their toy blocks didn't have letters on them—and they were also beads!

Home I went to my polymer clay stash, and created these little guys out of pearl clay. When they were baked, I painted the letters in red and the front edges in pink, and sent them back into the oven to cure.

Baby blocks, cost: 2/3 of a tank of gas and some hard-won wisdom. :)
