Porch Swing

This porch swing will afford the dolls many leisurely hours of relaxing with a cold drink, and listening to the crickets on a summer evening!
This is the same swing my family had when I was a child. It was painted green. I redesigned the chain since the one that came with it was not quite authentic.
The original was build in the 1800's by a Confederate veteran who had lost his arm in the Civil War. He made a living doing woodworking. My great-grandfather had it built for my great-grandmother. She swung my grandfather in it when he was a child. It was passed on to my grandfather when he married and my grandmother swung my father in it. It was passed on to my father and I and my brother enjoyed many happy hours swinging in it. When I married, I took the swing and my children swung in it.
Sadly, it finally rotted away and pretty much fell apart. It was a dismal day when we finally had to dispose of it. Seeing it again on the front porch of my house reminds me of how much pleasure it brought to many generatioins of my family!
