Victorian Settee continued

Dalesq

I wasn’t satisfied with the dark walnut stain finish on this settee, so I risked it and painted it black with crimson wash on top. I’ve done this before to good effect, and was happy to see it worked well on this piece too. I’ve given it a couple of coats of varnish and I’m ready to start upholstery. I have a golden velvet picked out, but if it is too thick I’ll have to rethink it. This color choice for this piece goes well with the mahogany marble top side table and looks good in the parlor of the house.
