Medieval 519 Posted January 17, 2021 My plan is to make a frame of toothpicks. Paint it black after woody putty and sanding it smooth. Then I've put clear scotch tape on the back of red tissue paper. I'm glueing black cut outs from a paper puncher for design on front and back. I'm trying to think what I can put on the front of the tissue paper to make it shiny. I might just put clear plastic, like from a take out container. Maybe resin? But this model is too tall. I mis-measured. And I struggled to glue the corners together with tacky glue on wax paper. So try again! Quote Link to comment
Mid-life madness 2,529 Posted January 18, 2021 Very delicate work...I like your thinking. Sending patience and steady hands your way. Quote Link to comment
Medieval 519 Posted January 18, 2021 Thanks! I saw jaxenros butterfly lamp and drooled. Patience is needed. I don't like how it's turning out, so I will be making it again. Tissue paper just not right. Maybe some clear packaging pieces and alcohol markers will work better. Quote Link to comment
Mid-life madness 2,529 Posted January 18, 2021 Maybe some Velum paper. Every now and again I find it in the scrap booking section of Hobby Lobby? Quote Link to comment
Medieval 519 Posted January 19, 2021 I will try that. I'm not too happy with tissue paper. Thanks for suggestion! Quote Link to comment
Tigpuppy 207 Posted March 15, 2021 How about colored cellophane? You can find it in the gift wrapping section of most stores and comes in rolls. Probably WAY more than you'll need for this project but it's not too terribly expensive. 1 Quote Link to comment
Medieval 519 Posted March 15, 2021 I've since gotten a cri-cut maker. So I will attempt this again using that tool to more precisely cut wood. I will try cellophane, but I learned mod podge coated fabric works pretty well for lamp shades. But maybe the cellophane for tiffany style....creative juices activated.... Quote Link to comment
