Guest Posted February 1, 2019 What are you making them out of? Wood? I did mine with egg carton. It worked quite well. Quote Link to comment
Ken 513 Posted February 1, 2019 Wood, making quite a few, they will be glued into the firebox, then shellac and dry brush to look like a well used fire box. lol Quote Link to comment
jbnmini 2,062 Posted February 1, 2019 It's bad enough doing them in egg carton, can't imagine me trying to make enough straight cuts to make them out of strip wood!! Can't wait to see it- I've no doubt that the fireplace will be amazing! Quote Link to comment
Ken 513 Posted February 1, 2019 No not bad at all. I slice 1/8" thick wood into 1/4" strips. Use my chopper with a stop for 1/2" I can make80 to 100 in 20 or 30 minutes, hand sand bevels on the edges. then hand sand to smooth the corners. After that since this is for the firebox will shellac and leave that color as it's close to the firebrick color then drybrush the black for effect after they are glued in place. Now for a cup of coffee. lol. 1 Quote Link to comment
