San Franciscan Kitchen left side.jpeg

Finally have had a block of time to work on my San Fran. I’m out of the basement and up in the kitchen at the moment. I had originally planned an all white kitchen, but the house wasn’t having it. I’ve used an indigo coloured scrap book paper for this wall and the bay wall. The sink unit (WIP) is a bash of two hom chest of drawers kits and a butlers sink I made from balsa, spackle & enamel paint. I modified two pre-made shelves to hang on the wall, removing the ornate ends, and adding a bar made from a toothpick. Now I just need some tiny S hooks to hang coffee cups on it. :)

Lovely kitchen!  I like your color choices, too.  So clean and modern, but also working very well with this house.

Looks fantastic!  Love the little basket tucked away....

It’s just one I have in my stash but not the right size. I need to make one to fit properly.

I love the color palette.

Thanks Karin, it’s nice to do something a bit unusual.

Nicely done Samusa.

Thanks Carrie. How are you! I’ve been mia for so long I need to catch up on everyone’s builds etc...

Love the colors you are using.  Your countertops are great, did you make them?

Thanks Colleen. My countertops are a bit of a mishmash. The ones on the stove wall are the tops from the HOM chests I used for the sink cabinets. I’ve painted them to try and simulate bluestone.. haha.. mixed results there. The sink cabinet bash has a top I’ve fashioned out of a few pieces of balsa. It still needs a lot of refining, both in colour and style.

Thanks Deborah. Hi! :wave:I’m hoping it’s something the owner of a SF townhouse might do. Traditional to honour the house but with a modern unusual twist. Thoughts?

Looks good Sam! I think the blue gives it some character that is often lacking in all white rooms. And it will really make any accessories you add pop.

Absolutely.  I have seen some lovely homes similar to this.  I'm not sure whether you'll be able to open this link.  https://www.businessinsider.com/photos-inside-painted-ladies-home-2016-9  It shows the interior of one of our most famous "painted ladies" (the ones next to Alamo Park, that show up in a gazillion photos of San Francisco).  I think you'll like their design aesthetic.  :)
