Assembly Required

Sister Kyoya

Bjørn: "You mean it doesn't come assembled?"

Bjørn's new home arrived. Still trying to figure out how to paint the outside to look like red sparkly auto paint, without having the tools to do it properly. Would an airbrush be what I need? I have no idea about those types of paint. I think that's the direction I need to go.

*Note to self: research airbrushes* I now have plenty of projects to keep me busy for quite a while.

You could probably simulate it by painting over the red with some sort of clear coat that has glitter in it and then when dry going over the whole lot with triple thick gloss glaze or maybe high gloss Mod Podge.

At the time I had considered something similar but was not looking forward to all the tedious work that could fail at a few points when my expectation was very high. The vinyl was the best of all the solutions I could research.  Total bonus was that it was fast and easy.
