Elsbeth

The original owner did a green marble effect on the stairs. I will be changing that. And the original bannisters have been replaced - which is fine, but they need some fixing, too. Still...it is my Beacon Hill. I love it so.

The staircase and railing looks great! But that marble is... Interesting.... You will make it look wonderful!!

I gotta figure out the bannister and a new color/faux wood effect. I'm thinking things will get taped off and sprayed with primer. The green marble reminds me of a bank!  I agree - "interesting"!

I think this picture...kind of quiet and softly haunting. What's your theme for the house?

No theme yet...still basking in Beacon Hill euphoria of having one. I have considered haunted. Also contemporary but nostalgic romantic. Also gothic with some William Morris. I think the house and I will have to get to know each other.

Love that the railings have been replaced. Much more refined than the kit ones. What were they thinking with that green marble.. it's not as bad as I first thought when you mentioned it in the ebay thread though. It's going to be tough to get at, I think but sounds like you have a plan. :)

I actually like this shade of green and how well it goes with the wood elements, it's a bit unusual but looks really nice :)

This is one of my favorite houses, great find!

I began prying the staircase off (there was a gap at the bottom) - and it turns out someone at one point used hot glue to glue the bottom of the staircase back on, which resulted in a big gap filled with glue. It was easy to get off, but stairs probably need to come out entirely, get reconditioned and put back in. Preferably in a non-marble state. The spindles are growing on me.
