For the central staircase, I used the Shapeways 1:24 scale stairs. A bit pricey, but I think the look works for this house. The railing had gotten a bit wonky near the top during storage (I bought it last year during the Black Friday sale), but I was able to straighten it out with a hair dryer. Also, some of the stair treads were incompletely filled in, leaving strange slits in their surface. I just “carpeted” them with the same velvet paper I used on the upstairs landing. The plastic is smooth and translucent, which I think gives it almost a glass look. I did paint the railing and pole silver.
