Just a very small update on the Beacon Hill, unfortunately my restoration work has been taking most of my time and left very little oportunity to work on my hobbies, but I do hope to catch up later this year. The construction pieces are mostly sorted and prepared, but I'd rather work on the assembly when I have time to regularly check on it. In the meantime I've worked on this set of chairs and table for the dinning room, bought them separately in raw wood but I think the design ended up matching quite well. Here's a little furniture test for the Beacon Hill parlour area, I'm happy the modifications gave me all this extra room to play around with furniture but still I wish I had a bit extra space haha.

The sideboard and cabinet are from the Bespaq Armorial set, I have some assorted pieces I use as "displays" for my collection of miniature porcelain and glass inside my large cabinets. These two suit the room nicely I think, and unlike other pieces I've tried the sideboard actually fits inside the bay window. I haven't changed the decorations inside the cabinet which is full of Reutter miniatures, I'll rearange everything after the house is finished. The decorations on the table were displayed with a diferent set, I've picked the green dishes and a matching carpet because I'm thinking of decorating this room with a "green" theme. You may recognize the silver pieces, they are from artists Peter Acquisto and Dmitry Shevchenko, I've noticed Dmitry recently posted on this forum and I must say I've been a fan of his work for some time. I specially love his cuttlery sets, so detailed and delicate, and the 5 arm candelabra is probably one of my favorite pieces from his collection. Recently I've bought these green mini wax candles from clare bell which go really nice with the candelabra, I'll definitely get more for other candle holders they smell so nice too! The sofa set is a work from the talented Jill Diane I had in my mini art collection. I wasn't planning on using them in a dollhouse setting, but I really like the green fabric and delicate decorations so I'm feeling a bit tempted to move them here, it adds to the "french" vibe of this house hehe. Not sure about the paintings, I might need a mirror for the fireplace but I want to add a bit of decor on the pannels. I will also need green curtains for the windows, either short ones or falling all the way to the floor.

I hope you enjoy this mini preview, I really miss working on my Beacon Hill. Sadly large houses take almost as much time as real size furniture, and I've had plenty of that to work on latelly *sigh*. I should have picked a smaller project at this time, but I will eventually get back to work in this house.

Your dining room is beautiful, could be a real life room.  I love the chairs and table, plus all the china makes it look like a meal ready to serve!  The drinks cart is a very nice touch.  I barely see in the back a sitting place, I would love to see more of the settee, looks lovely!  And the candles are such a realistic touch.

Thank you! For now it's just a quick test of the space with pieces I had around here. I will share more pictures will all the details after I'm finishing building, I'm thinking about adding a ceilling rose to this room so I had to remove all furniture and chandelier. The doorway isn't finished either because I'm not done working in the adjacent corridor. The settee set is really wonderful but unfortunatelly it sits a bit on the back of the room so it's tricky to see (I had to use a very small apperture to get as many details I could in one frame). A picture of this set was published in a feature article from Ohio Magazine if I'm not mistaken, I've tried to find a better picture but could only find this (from her blog). I'm not the first owner of this set, but it has been kept in pristine condition and sheltered from dust since ever. I will get more detailed pictures next time, and hopefully some curtains to compliment the room :)

Thank you! It was a bit thrown together at last minute but I'm glad you like the look. I am new to 1:12 scale dollhouses but I have been collecting miniatures for a while now. I often check antique dealers, auctions and miniature fairs. I'm particularly fond of miniature porcelain, glass and silver works. As I usually say to the hubby, I don't have the space or funds to collect everything I would like to have in real size, so miniatures are a way to fullfil my fantasies lol. :p

Oh, my!  What a beautiful room!  I agree with Barb--it could be a real room.  One thing with 1:12--you can get some really nice detail and proportion that adds to the realism.  I keep scrolling back up to look at it.  There are so many delightful details to take in!

Oh yes, it's way easier to fool the eyes with this scale, even with minimal amounts of decor. I specialy enjoy doing marquetry in this scale, a lot more freedom to play with patterns, same with fabric options.

Thank you :) Most of my light fixtures are from Heidi Ott, I'm quite surprised with the amount of light I managed to get in these pictures, even before wiring the table lamp it didn't take many bulbs to lit up the room.

That is truly an amazing room. Your collection of fine miniatures is stunning, but I'm especially blown away by how you've arranged such an abundance without it seeming crowded or out of balance in the least. Also, the elegant lighting just glows off the warm woodwork. I've rarely seen a real life interior that's so opulent and also inviting. Wish I could get small and go there!

That moment when you realize that I dont deserve to be in the same room as some folks on here...

Every now and then something jumps off the screen at you...This just took a giant leap.

Aww thank you! I do try to keep a balance with the amount of furniture and decorations, I love clutter but too much may obfuscate the small details. The size of the rooms in this house isn't as big as I'd like to fullfil my vision of 'opulence' but I'm glad I can get at least a lil bit of my wish fullfilment ;)

Oh don't be silly, I could easily say the same comparing my work to other talented people here in the forums. I make several mistakes as well and sometimes I just want to pull the house apart, haha! We are always learning from our experience and others and I owe a lot to everyone who's been around to guide me along the way, specially everyone in this community ;)

So true but to me personally this is exceptional work(woman)ship...something that really shouts out to me...its amazing and you should be proud...I hope to build some kits in the future and Beacon Hill is the top of my list ( If I can get one into Ireland lol) Your attention to detail and choice of paint through to furniture really has made me sit up and take notice...I dont mean to patronize but..lets just say I'm impressed by this build....Regards C

This is definitely encouraging me to combine my parlour/dining rooms in my Beacon Hill, also having the large, imposing hallway that a Victorian house would have. Still thinking I may just expand on the other side, though, since I have the materials.... (Yes, still deep in the planning stages!)

Yes, I absolutely agree. I've finally decided that I will actually cut down the tiny wing of the Beacon Hill to the width of a staircase, but then add a whole new, larger wing on that side. I will be using the smaller wing of the Rutherford dollhouse kit that I have (picked it up VERY cheaply on eBay!), which is still bigger than the smaller wing of the Beacon Hill (Definitely going to be using the Rutherford Tower top, to add an attic room where the Beacon Hill has none). When I realized that the new addition wouldn't enlarge the footprint all that drastically, display-wise (once it's a certain size, what's a few more inches, right?), I knew that was the way to go.
