I like both the TV and the fireplace - though think the TV fits better with the look and other items in the room. What color are you thinking about painting the fireplace?

I agree that the TV goes better with the other stuff in this room.

I'm afraid you're both right.  I really did want the fireplace, but I think the TV works better.  I was going to paint it red. I would have tested shades to find one that worked.

How about one of these funky fireplaces. I think if the other fireplace had a bright color I might change my mind?? Whatever you do, it will be great.

Ooh, fun and tempting.  Maybe if I had one of those, I could fit it and the TV!  I might try painting the fireplace, just to see.  And thank you! 

I guess I am the desenting one, I like the fireplace, but after it is painted of course, but that might be my dislike of TV's speaking, I do not have TV's in real life!

How about going really funky and putting the TV in the fireplace opening?

I agree with the others, I love that tv. I hate to even mention it, but we had one similar to that when I was really young.  What is hanging on the wall behind the sofa?  It looks a mounted blue marlin.  If so, that is really unique piece.  Where did you find it?

Yep, it's a sailfish.  This rec room is loosely based on my grandparents' rec room, and my grandfather, who loved deep sea fishing, always wanted one but never got one.  It's actually a cheap, gold-tone brooch I got on eBay, painted and "mounted."

mmm.. I kinda like the fireplace... love the TV too.. but the fireplace is speaking to me..

 

To be honest I love both, but I would maybe go with the TV since it's a recreation room. I would probably add an Atari 2006 too just because I'm a huge geek hehe

Well, the "year" of the house is 1961, so probably wouldn't fit in too well.    I admit, though, to being sorely tempted by this little 1:24 scale arcade game, as PacMan was a family favorite for years.
