Is my scale right?

SewMini

My ony worry is that maybe I have my scale a little off? The chair and sofa are both 2" high. I put in some of the dollhouse furniture I had purchased a while back and so you'd think they were the rught size but they looked comically large. Any thoughts?

I think it looks fine. Remember real life furniture varies considerably in size, and lounge chairs/sofas can be pretty big.

I am really loving this floor.. with the plant and the bird cage it looks like an indoor/outdoor room.. beautiful!

What piece do you think is out of scale, your pieces or the coffee table? I think it look within the realm... coffee tables in RL can be higher than the couch seat or lower depending on the style.

It's mostly the couch that feels a little off. I think maybe it just needs some pillows to give it some height. The low back makes it feel out of scale but I might be over thinking.

The couch height looks fine in this picture, hard to tell though.

I do think it might be a little be long.. not from a scale perspective but just for this little room.

It's definitely too long lol. Im just going to go with it for now until I have time to make a new one. I'll probably put the couch on the other side with its back to the stairs once I get those in.

Agree, against the stairs would be better, so as not to cut the room in half. :)

It's hard to tell from the photo, but according to dimensions I found online couches are usually around 36" high with a 24" seat height, so at 2" these seem too short. Maybe you could add legs to the sofa?

You mean 2 inch height in total or seat height? I measured the height of one of my 1:12 sofas and the height of the seat was around 3 cm (a bit over 1 inch), but as someone mentioned above these can vary a bit. The seat height should be enough that an average size 'person' could confortably sit on it, without having to bend their knees upwards. When making chairs or other seating type of furniture I would recomend to always measure by seat height, makes it a lot easier to figure out the proportions.

Sorry, I'm not sure now where I saw 24", I probably imagined it! This article says 36" back height and 19" seat height. I just measured my own couch and the seat height is 17".

SewMimi's couch does look short to me but it could be the angle of the photo.

The seat height is 1.75" so I guess Im good. It's purposely a low back couch so that must be what's throwing me off. I think I'll make some pillows for it to in crease the total height a little.

Late to this, but I agree it looks fine.  Maybe it's just the angle I'm seeing it at, but it looks good to me.  Pillow are always a nice addition, though.
