Carved table

SewMini

I finally came up with an idea for my dining room table. I've been wanting something quite textured but not so textured that guests plates would be going all over the place. The concept being that Gabrielle had turned a door or some other piece of reclaimed wood into a table.

I was rooting through my scraps and came across this perfectly sized piece of plywood. Then I remembered I had bought some ornate, doily type gift tags and a project was born.

I used the gift tag as a stencil to trace on the designs. Then it was simply a matter of carving around the outlines with my exacto. It's a pretty easy process (you basically just do a bevel cut on each side of the line), just a bit time consuming. Lots of impact though and it's what I was looking for.

The legs will be unused gingerbread trim.
