I'm deciding how best to rehab this house. The porch is in great shape. Needs a fresh coat of paint. The banister makes me nervous. Don't want any paint on it. I may try to remove it. Ideally, I would like to remove the porch to make it easier to paint. Not sure it's worth attempting this and risking any damage.

I'm also undecided on the stone effect on bottom porch. Not crazy about the look of it .  Should I go deep and make stones? Maybe a light sanding and fresh paint? Taking suggestions.

The windows are stapled on. I thought of removing them but what if I can't find another fit?  They are pretty thick not flimsy. Hate to remove then and they crack.

I did remove all the shutters and flower boxes.I have to decide to repaint them a new color or try to restore the few that are damaged. I would have to practice reproducing the tree design.

Decisions...Decisions...

Does the banister need to be painted as well? If not, I'd leave it on, unless you are doing the balcony floor as well then take it off..

The stone effect is a nice concept just maybe not executed well. It doesn't look like it has any texture? Maybe you could cut egg carton stones using the current floor as a template and stick them over this flooring, grout and paint for a better, more realistic stone effect.

What the? Stapled windows, that's the first time I've seen that.. lol

If you don't want to replace them can you trim them out with window trim to cover the staples and give them some architectural interest on the outside?

I was going to say the same thing as Samusa about the texture on the stone floor. I like the stone, but agree that it is too flat.

She also had a good idea about trying to add trim to the stapled windows. That would cover up the staples if you can't get them out, and they really do need trim on the inside to cover up the rough opening there.

It looks like a great house!

Definitely adding trim on inside window.  The thickness of the plastic windows, doubt anything but staples would hold.one good thing about old dh,they made to last.

Texture is what is missing. I was thinking stones too. I may do a test on a spare part. I'm a bit nervous since I never did stones with grout.

I'm leave banister as is. Just not a very neat painter. Lol  If they don't come off easy, I'm learn to be super patient and neat.

It's a nice solid house. I'm get more pictures of the other side and roof. Still deciding if I want to repaint all the rooms. I think the floors just need a light sanding and a coat of polyurethane. They actually in quiet good shape. Not sure I even need to do that.  Maybe just the floor where I removed old steps. Under the stairs is lighter wood.

Thanks for replying.
