Current kitchen design (lower cabinets only) for the Merrimack kitchen, with a cut-down dishwasher and raised countertops. Thanks to Samantha, Emily and Ashley for suggestions on fixing the kitchen. I ended up doing a little of both—I cut down the dishwasher and I raised the counter height. I thought a full drawer’s depth made the counters a little too high. I also realized that the dishwasher was taller than the stove. I cut down the dishwasher just to the groove under the name. This gave me a clear place to cut and does not interfere at all with the opening mechanism. Unfortunately, I nicked the left corner slightly when cutting; hence the “gasket” around the bottom. I then raised the counters just a bit. I noticed in the pictures Ashley posted that some of the lower cabinets had a span of additional plain wood between the doors/drawers and counter, so I decided that look would be fine. I now have an under-counter dishwasher, and my counters are roughly the height of my stove, which I decided to keep. Nothing is glued down yet (obviously), while I continue to assess my color scheme. The current countertops will almost certainly go, as they are too sparkly. The cabinet on the left, with the half-round shelves, was made especially for me by Shellie of Mini-Etchers. She is wonderful about doing custom jobs!
