Repainted this little mini today, seamed like a good time to grab some closeup shots before putting it back in my dollhouse.

I wanted a typewriter for the Fairfield office but couldn't find one, so I had to make it from scratch... everything was cut, assembled and painted by hand using my real size Underwood typewritter as reference. Naturally I couldn't recreate it down to every single last detail... with something so small I can only hope to get a decent enough illusion. Also forget about trying to replicate the keys layout in this scale... if I did it would be too large for the desk, or you wouldn't be able to see the keys lol. I wanted to make it semi functional (I'm nuts, yes!), but after trying 2 keys I gave up... no point so much work if I can't press them, so that part is only cosmetic... the only part that works is the papper insert.

I tried to do what I could by hand, it would look much better if I had used machine cut components, but I think it still turned out pretty decent. It was made with wood and metal, no pre-cut parts just sheets and wire. It looks fragile but I actually made it pretty sturdy (no balsa or any trash materials), as you can see from the picture on the right it's a very solid piece. :flex:

If I ever do it again, I would probably change some parts to be metal and try more soldering and less gluing... but first I should practise with less complicated objects before I try mechanical minis. This machine is very dear to me, the 1:1 one is a faithful desk companion that works flawlessly to this day... despite being a pain to find ribbons that don't come dry right out of the box lol.

Awesome! You have a keen eye and an immense amount of patience. :)

Thank you! Sometimes I think I just get in "the zone", and keep working from an idea until it materializes. In this case I'm afraid my patience ran out at the point of figuring out a mechanism to keep the keys in the right position after pressing them:headhurts:
