The mailbox.

I carved out a mailbox shelf next to the front door. I still can't decide if it should be square or leave it this shape. I planned to edge it in brick or stone.

I'm going to leave the outside open and when the house is finished, I'll put some letters and stuff in the box. The inside of the entry will have a little door to get into the box without going outside. I am also thinking of putting a bell pull in the outside box, so the mailman can ring the bell when he delivers the mail.

Of course, after I did the box, it occurred to me that if my little people were living in the country, they would go to town and pick up their mail from the post office. That's me, always thinking ahead. *sigh*

I think your little people might have rural delivery service. Or this could be a good place for the milkman to leave the day's dairy delivery. :D

Dairy delivery! Now that's a great idea, Kathie. I could cut another hole in the bottom for milk bottles and such. Although, I suppose if they live in the country, they have their own cow.

I love the shape! It makes it interesting!

OK, then, I'll leave the mail box the shape it is and make a square cut for the dairy delivery. Thanks!

Or wait, maybe I'll have a mailbox outside on a pole so I can plant flowers around it and recut the mail box opening to take the dairy deliveries. Decisions, decisions!

Or...why can't I have both? The milk comes in the morning and the mail comes in the afternoon. Now, what do I call that thing?
