For the last two days, I have been going through my stashes of things I've had forever, and choosing some that would be okay in the kitchen of my ryokan. Not everything is quite in scale, but they make the kitchen look so much more lived in that I'll leave them in here until I find or make other things to replace the ones that are definitely the wrong size.
I'm really happy with the utensil hangers I made. I used narrow wood that was left over. First I cut them to size, then stained them. For pegs, I used a tiny drill to make holes, and super glued common pins into the holes. Then I cut the pins short, and glued the units to the walls.
I used a bit of wax to stabillize the hanging items so they wouldn't fall off the "pegs".
