Finished: The Livingroom

The fireplace was a several step process. I used black acrylic paint to get a basecoat in the hearth and then once that dried, I used a lighter to add the final touch of realism by hovering it under an area of the fireplace that I wanted to blacken, being carful not to burn the resin of the fireplace.
