I did make the newel posts, incorporating some bits of manufactures moulding.  Couldn't find what I wanted.  I'm hoping they don't look too homemade.  I'm really trying to make as many components as I (reasonably) can.

I was going to ask you about the newel posts also because I love them and it so hard to find really good ones!
