I explored many options for the roof, and finally committed to one where I already had the supplies, which meant it was free.

used the cricut to cut out shingle sets, and then spread joint compound on them, and Scott painted them.

hope it looks like slate!  We are gonna touch up and add some other colors after they are on.  Need to figure out the gables and the peak.

If I may make a suggestion? Slate is split so there are lots of leveled texture and he did a great job with that. however, it usually doesn't have bumps, so a little sanding down and it will be perfect. The color is great, just like my real ones from the UK.
