Filling in the Dining/Kitchen doorway

Having a door between the kitchen and dining room really hinders the layout because the kitchen is already very tiny. Actually, at this point, I'm not sure that I want the kitchen to be a kitchen. The living/dining area is so huge that I'm thinking of making the kitchen into a mud room.
